The chairman reported that he understood that the North Otago Association had arranged a match with Southland, and had played South Canterbury without referring the matter to the association. He pointed out that under the constitution the subassociations were required to refer proposed interprovincial fixtures to the parent body.—lt was decided to ask the North Otago Sub-association for an explanation. It was also decided to ask North Otago to treat the proposed match with Otago as an urgent matter and reply to the association’s letters promptly. The chairman said that E. Densem was definitely not available for the Australian tour, and O. Dey could not go to Christchurch next Saturday. This would not prejudice the latter against selection for the New Zealand team. The possibility of securing further grounds was discussed at some length, and it was decided that the members of the Grounds Committee should wait on the Reserves Committee of the City Council to go into the matter. Mr A. Hanna, representing the Otago State Primary Schools’ Sports Association, gave a report on hockey in primary schools, and it was decided to write to headmasters of schools with a view to securing new players. He complained that he had not been advised to attend the previous meeting of the committee, and objected to the publicity which'had resulted.—There was some discussion on the, manner in which the request for his attendance at that meeting had been communicated to the secretary of the Technical Old Boys’ Club.—Galland tendered an apology as required, and it was intimated that the matter was closed, his suspension being automatically terminated. The Match Committee reported that the first round of the Second Grade competition had been concluded.
