HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Flies will not go near electric light bulbs or other articles that have been rubbed over with castor oil. Castor oil also drives away ants if a few drops are poured on to a piece of paper and placed in their “run” or at the entrance of such holes as they are using. * s;< On a windy washing day place all silk stockings and other fragile articles in a pillow case and peg it on the lino. This will prevent delicate fabrics becoming twisted around the line and torn, and it will be found that they dry very quickly. Apples should be slit round with the point of a sharp knife—making a circular slit near the top of the apple —before baking. This saves them from bursting in all directions, and they bake more quickly.
