TRIPLETS’ JOURNEY
TRIUMPHANT DEPARTURE ENTERING KARITANE HOME (Per United Press Association) HASTINGS. May 31. The Anderson triplets, who were born in Hastings on Coronation Day. left Hastings by the mail train this morning for Wellington, where they will enter the Karitane Home. A large number of interested people witnessed their departure. The youngsters were snugly tucked up in baskets in the special carriage that had been arranged for them by the Minister of Railways (Mr D G. Sullivan) in response to flie representations of Mr W. E. Barnard. M.P. They were accompanied by two Plunket nurses. As the train pulled out cheers were given for the triplets, their parents and the nurses, even the engine driver being affected by a wave of enthusiasm, for as the train approached the Heretaunga street crossing the whistle played a lively tune. The triplets appeared to be in excellent health and to be making good progress. Mr E. L. Cullen. M.P.. stated that he was making representations to the Acting Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) to have the King’s bounty conferred upon the youngsters.
