THIRD READING PASSED LONDON, May 28. In the House of Commons, Mr A. P. Herbert's Marriage Bill passed the third reading by 190 votes to 37. After the rising of the House members of all parties crowded round Mi Herbert and congratulated him on his achievement in securing the passage of the Bill through the House of Commons. This was only made possible by the Government providing extra parliamentary time in response to the general feeling of the House The chief features of the measure, which has been approved by representative churchmen are extension of the grounds for divorce from adultery to include desertion for three years, cruelty and insanity for five years, and a provision that there shall be no divorce within five years of marriage.
