NEW ZEALAND MADE
PACKAGING AND LABELLING With large areas of window space devoted to the exhibition of New Zea-land-made goods, the business premises in the city and suburbs, which are at prqsent devoted to assisting the manufacturers in their campaign to advance their goods in the local market, bear an attractive and educational appearance. A pleasing feature and one which must, in the long run. be of great benefit to local industries, is the extent to which the school children are being interested in the resources of the Dominion. Their patriotism has been aroused, and in some of the schools special addresses have been given in order to educate the classes to an appreciation of what is being done by New Zealand manufacturers. The- general opinion regarding the tjoods displayed is that the quality and value deserve nothing but the most favourable criticism With regard to variety of choice and attractiveness of mounting, there still seems to be room for improvement in some lines, but it is apparent that much has been clone to overcome the tendency to regard a New Zealand-made article as having no other qualifications but serviceability and homeliness In many cases the opinion has been expressed that the locally-made article is of better quality than the imported article and needs only the addition of attractive parking and labelling to enable i* to drive the latter off the market The 500 windows in the city and suburban shops will remain on exhibition until the end of the present week The street and buildings' lighting will also be continued every night this week.
