BABY DROWNED IN BATH (Per United Phess Association) AUCKLAND, April 10. A child aged one year, the son of Mrs Nora Clark, of Trafalgar street, Onehunga. was drowned In a bath this morning. The mother bathed add dressed the child about 8,30 a.m. and went outside, leaving it playing on the hearthrug. Two girls went into the house with the Intention of taking the child out, and found it hanging over the side of the bath, with its head and shoulders covered by water. A doctor was called, but resuscitation efforts proved unavailing. FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT (Per United Press Association) ■ HOKITEtCA, April 10. Following a search for a cow which caused damage to a car last night and disappeared into a swamp off Fitzherbert street, one of the searchers, Albert Simms, 32 years of age, unmarried, a Public Works employee, of Harihari, was struck by another car driven by James Alfred Andrews, a <butcher, of Hokitika. Simms was seriously injured, dying in the West. Jand Hospital four hours later. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR Thomas Nelson, aged 33 years, residing at 213 Melbourne street, was admitted to the Hospital at 10.45 a.m. on Saturday suffering from concussibn. The injury was received when he was knocked down by a motor car at the corner of Hanover and King streets. MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 11. When his motor collided with a motor car as it was turning into the Great South road, Walter John Lucas, of Ponsonby, severed an artery in his left leg and succumbed from the injury in the Auckland Hospital to-night. Lucas was single, aged 34, y and was caretaker of the Sacred Heart Church, Ponsonby.
