THE WEATHER
Yesterday was fine, with intermittent sunshine, but there was still a fresh breeze from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees and the barometer was steady at 29.55 inches. REPORTS FROM THE NORTH (Special to Daitv Times) AUCKLAND, Feb. 17. The weather to-day was dull and unsettled, but there was no sign of rain, although the sky was clouded over in the afternoon. A fresh westerly to south-westerly wind blew during the day and the barometer began to fall early in the afternoon. WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. The morning was overcast and threatening, but the sky gradually cleared and the afternoon was fine, with brilliant sunshine. A strong, squally north-westerly wind blew throughout the day. The minimum temperature during last night was 54.0 degrees and the maximum to-day was 64.6 degrees. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 17. The sun shone brilliantly in • ■the morning, but the wind later changed from north-west to north-east and the sky clouded over. The maximum temperature during the day was 70.7 degrees. The barometer was falling all afternoon, registering 29.61 inches at 7.30 p.m.
