TOURISTS FATAL FALL
ENGLISH WOMAN OVER CLIFF TRAGEDY AT JENOLAN CAVES (From Our Own Correspondent) SYDNEY. Feb. 11. A well-to-do English tourist, Miss Matilda Ann Shaw. 73 years of age, fell 150 feet to her death from a cliff near Caves House, Jenolan, the famous New South Wales scenic resort. No one saw Miss Shaw fall, but she was heard to scream, and her body was found almost immediately. Miss Shaw, who was travelling alone, booked in at the Caves House on Saturday, and during that night saw some of the caves. She was seen the next day climbing a disused track to the top of a cliff over the Lucas Cave. It is surmised that she slipped and lost her balance. There was a sheer drop of 50 feet, then a slight slope and a further drop. Among her belongings was a large sum of money. Papers disclosed that she came from Repton, Devonshire, England. She arrived in Sydney on December 23, and later went to Kurri Kurri to stay with a nephew.
