MONTHLY MEETING The monthly social of the Orkney and Shetland Society was held on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members and friends and representatives of kindred societies. The president (Mr A. B. Fraser), in extending a hearty welcome to thosf present, referred to the fact tha> the January social was cancelled on account of the infantile paralysis epidemic. Among the visitors present were Mr Bett, president of the St. Andrew’s Society, and Mr Harrison, secretary of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Society. The playette “A Full-dress Rehearsal ” was produced by the members of the St. Andrew’s Society Dramatic Club, the cast including Mrs Minnock as Mrs MacWhannell. a Scottish housewife; Mr Jeffrey, as her husband; Mr Fox, as a doctor; Mr Rotto, as Mr Dagger, the leader of the Dramatic Club. It proved to be very amusing and was entirely successful. ...

Mr Bell also gave a recitation entitled “ Saint Peter at the Golden Gate.” The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, the items including a statue waltz, which was won by Mr Walker and Miss Kean. Mr Croy and Mr A. Fraser were the musicians, and Mr Sabiston acted as M.C.
