TEST CRICKET

ro rut EDITOR Sir,—With reference to your comments on the slow scoring in the fourth lest match, you must remember that in test cricket the bowling is perfect and the fielding faultless. In fact, you must be an outstanding batsman to make runs with such a superb attack and good fielding. The score in the Auckland-Otago match—sso for five wickets—was very good for secondclass cricket, but the bowling was only third class. Just fancy Bradman or Hammond getting that class of bowling! You would require new scoring books. It is a fallacy to say that Bradman is the only man. It is through the aid of his mates that the star Bradman shines on big occasions —just like Trcvathan in Ranfurly Shield matches. Ho is (he star, but you do not know it.—l am, etc., February 6. F. M’Kay.
