COAL CARRIED BY SHIPS PRICE INCREASES FOLLOW (Per United Press Association> WELLINGTON, Feb. 5. At a meeting of the Wellington Coal Merchants and Dealers' Association consideration was given to a notification from shipping companies that freight charges on New Zealand sea-borne coal would be increased to the extent of 2s 6d per ton, and the following resolution was carried unanimously:-—" That this meeting of the Wellington Coal Merchants and Dealers' Association regrets that it is necessary to increase the price of New Zealand sea-borne coal by 2d per cwt for cwt lots up to 4cwt, 9d for quarter-ton lots. Is 3d for half-ton lots, and 2s 6d per ton, coal nuts to be increased by 2d per cwt." The new prices will take effect, from Monday.
