DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs A. C. Kanlon (chair), L. C. Hazlett, F. Tyson, B. S. Irwin, J. A. Mathewson, L. Potter, A. N. Smith, Dr Batchelor and Dr Ross. It was resolved to apply to conference to change the date of the winter meeting from June* 23. 24 and 26 to June 9. 10 and 12. A report was received from the Track Committee that the new sand track had been completed, and was much appreciated by the trainers. The application from 4VA to shift the position for broadcasting from the crow’s-nest in the southern stand to a position in the stewards’ stand and nearer the winning post was granted. Messrs Tyson, Potter and Smith were elected an Entertainment Committee for the autumn meeting. Regarding the autumn meeting, the secretary reported that a special train would leave Dunedin for Invercargill at 6.40 p.m. on the night of the second day’s races. He also reported that there would be a special leaving Wingatui at 7.55 on the Sunday morning. Dunedin at 8.30, and arriving in Christchurch at 5 p.m. This train would take passengers as well as all the northern horses. One new member was elected, and other business of a routine nature
