THE WEATHER
There was bright sunshine yesterday morning and the temperature was 69 degrees. Rain commenced to fall about noon, however, and there was a short but severe thunderstorm. Heavy rain fell again in the evening. The barometer rose to 29.65 inches. CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. Fine, sunny weather prevailed in Auckland until 5 p.m., when the sky clouded over and rain appeared likely. A fresh south-westerly breeze blew during most of the day increasing in strength. Conditions were warm until late in the afternoon. The barometer feli steadily during the day. WELLINGTON. Jan. 7. The weather was dull and threatening in the early morning with occasional very light showers. The sky cleared, however, as the day advanced. A strong north-west wind blew and at Kelburn a gust, of 64 miles an hour was recorded at 9 a.m. The minimum temperature last night was 55.1 degrees and the maximum to-day was 65.6 degrees. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 7. The weather to-day was fine but rather cloudy with a strong north-west wind. The maximum temperature was 67.4 degrees. The barometer has risen to 29.64 inches.
