ARCTIC EXPEDITION

SIR HUBERT WILKINS'S PLANS LONDON, Jan. 4. Sir Hubert Wilkins told the Australian Associated Press that it was uncertain when his expedition would begin owing to the difficulty of getting a submarine. It might not be until 1938. Already about 4000 applications to join the crew had been received, many from Australians and New Zealanders. “ I prefer Australians and New Zealanders if possible,” he said, “because they are wonderful comrades. I cannot afford to bring any to England, so intend seeking qualified Australians and New Zealanders here; otherwise I will use Englishmen and Norwegians.”
