Dr D. G. M'Millan, MP., returned last night from Wellington. Mr W. Easton returned yesterday afternoon from Wellington. Mr C. Stanley Smith returned to Dunedin yesterday after a visit to Wellington. Inspector D. Cameron, who was recently transferred from Greymouth, has commenced duty at the Dunedin Police Station. Mr R. D. Stewart, of Dunedin, has been appointed secretary of the Otago A and P. Society in succession to Mr A. F. Duthie, who has resigned in order «o become field inspector for the Lands Department at Invercargill. Mr Stewart was educated at St. Clair and at the Otago Boys' High School, and spent some years in the service of Messrs Ross and Glendining, Ltd., later taking up farming in the Balfour district, where he remained until recently. He will take over the position from Mr Duthie at the beginning of the new year. The Union Airways liner Karoro left the Taieri airport at 8.15 a.m. on Saturday for Christchurch, Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Mrs Alley for Blenheim and Mrs C. M'Bean for Palmerston North. The Korimako arrived from the north at 1 p.m. with Mtf H. Carey from Palmerston Norm. The Korimako left the Taieri airport at 8.15 yesterday morning for Christchurch, Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Mr F. S. Booth for Christchurch, Miss C. Hunter for Blenheim, and Mr S. Jardine for Wellington. The Karoro arrived at 1 p.m. with Messrs F. Cropp, W. Jolly, and E. Nicholson from Christchurch.

Advice has been received at Invercargill that Captain A. R. Champua. now pilot at Bluff, has been appointed U the position of second pilot ..o the LyUelton Harbour Board. Captain Chc-mpion was educated at Seddon Meirorial College, Auckland, and afterwards served his apprenticeship in the baroues Rona and Rewa. He entered tl-e Union Company's service in 1922 and resigned in 1928. In 1930 he was appointed chief officer of the Government ship Maui Pomare, and for the lust six years has been pilot at Blutf.
