Y.M.C.A. CAMP

PROVISION-'FOR NEEDY BOYS Attention is drawn in the advertising columns to the Y.M.C.A Boys' Camp, commencing on Boxing Day and being conducteduntil January 30. This camp, the oldest-established in Otago, has been a source of aid to health and physical fitness for hundreds of boys. Situated on the bank of the Silverstream. Whare Flat, the Y.M.C.A. Camp presents many desirable features. A spacious cookhouse and dining room and wooden sleeping huts, presented by the citizens of Dunedin, provide warm, dry quarters in any weather. On the camp site is the fine swimming pool and sandy sun-bathing area. The immediate surroundings consist of undulating country and flat, merging into high hills. Within walking distance are the Chalkies, the Silver Teaks, the intake, the beautiful nau.'a bush, Pramid Hut, and many storied spots on the Taieri Plains The boys' work director of the Y.M.C.A. (Mr G. R. Pitkethley) is in charge of the camp programme and activities, and the ,r camp mother " will be Mrs Rennie. who has given many years of service to the boys in camp. Boys may enter for periods of one week up to the full Eeriooi oi five weeks. New groups of oys enter and leave camp each weekend as desired. The Rotary Club and Patriotic Association have made it possible to give free holidays to certain approved boys whose home conditions preclude their being able to have a holiday.
