NEW EDUCATION FELLOWSHIP

CONFERENCE IN NEW ZEALAND Arrangements for a conference of the New Education Fellowship, which is'to be held in New Zealand, next year, are well advanced.. Most of the speakers will arrive at Auckland -on July 9, and leave from there, for Australia on July 27. Certain of the visitors, including Professor Kandel, of Columbia University, and Mr Lismer, of Toronto Art Gallery, will arrive some weeks ahead of the others to do important work in studying New Zealand conditions or in lecturing on important developments in education. The dates tentatively fixed for the various centres are: Auckland, July 10 to July 15; Wellington, July 19 to July 23; Christchurch, July 13 to July 17; and Dunedin, July 19 to July 22. The visitors will join one or two groups and serve either the North Island or the South Island.' All delegates . will assemble in Wellington, where the Minister of Education and officers of his department will have the vital opportunity of conferring on matters related to their vital reorganising, scheme. . It is anticipated that leave of absence will. be granted to all interested teachers, and that most schools will be closed on this account during the session. .

Never before, has the opportunity been - afforded to New Zealanders of associating with so many distinguished educationists of international reputation.' Among them are specialists representing practically every aspect of education. Besides the 14 or more delegate's will come many interested visitors from overseas.

The following are definitely coming:—

Dr Susan Isaacs, head of the Department of Child Development at the University of London Institute of Education, who is the authoress of " The Nursery Years," "The Psychological Aspects' of Child Development, " " Intellectual Growth in Young Children,"

Mf E. Salter Davies, C.8.E., M.A. (Oxon.), who has been Director of Education for Kent since 1918, and is the author of "The Aim of Education," "The Reorganisation of Education in England." "Education for Industry and Life." "Technical Education," etc. He is also specially interested in the function of the library in education, prison reform and the Borstal system, the League of Nations, and school broadcasts.

Professor I. L. Kandel. of the International Institute. Teachers' College, Columbia University of New York, an authority on comparative education, and the editor of the "International Year Books on Education." " Studies in Comparative Education," etc. Mr Arthur Lismer, A.R.C.A., educational supervisor to the Art Gallery at Toronto, where he is credited with having accomplished extraordinary results.

Professor Hart, of the University of California, one of the leading authorities in America on educational administration. Dr Cvril Norwood, president of St. John's College, Oxford, who is interested in music in education, religion and education, and other aspects of education. Professor E. de S. Brunner, of the Teachers' College. Columbia University, one of the most competent men in the field of rural sociology and agricultural problems. Dr William Boyd, head of the Department of Education at the University of Glasgow, and interested in adult education, and education and vocational guidance. A representative of the English Board of Education will also attend the conference
