MANIAC AT LARGE
ATTACK ON NURSE DAZED BY BLOW ON HEAD (Per United Press Association; PALMERSTON N., Nov. 20. A brutal assault on Miss Lily Storey, aged 18 years, while walking along the Foxton line on Thursday evening, is not the only one which occurred in that locality on that night. It is reported that a nurse at the Old People’s Home at Awapuni, while cycling back tc the institution about 10 p.m., was suddenly dazed by a blow on the head just as a man on a bicycle rode past. At the time she did not associate the occurrence with the man, thinking she had been struck by something which had been thrown from a train that was also passing at the time. In view of what happened to Miss Storey earlier in the evening, however, the opinion is held that the nurse was the intended victim of the same maniac.
