Fleming is the Australian 110 yards and 220 yards free style champion and 220 yards' recordholder, and he will appear in special invitation free style and back stroke races. In the 100 yards invitation scratch race Fleming will have the opposition of some of New Zealand’s finest free style exponents, including W. J. Jarvis (ex-New Zealand 100 yards and 220 yards champion and present Victorian title-holder for 100 yards at 54sec), D. H. Symes (New Zealand 220 yards champion). E. Joase and J. W. Clulee. The 100 yards invitation shortlimit back stroke handicap will be just as attractive a race, since two of Australia and New Zealand’s best back stroke exponents in P. E Mathieson (holder of New Zealand and Australian records) and W Fleming will be pitted against each other, and the field will also include Jarvis, Thomas, Kerr and Leckie.
