CRICKET
ONE-DAY MATCHES Owing to there having been no play last Saturday, matches this week will be ’confined to the one day, and it will be necessary for teams to force the scoring. Some very attractive cricket, therefore, should be witnessed in today’s games. At University Oval. Albion will meet University. Albion has been showing good form in its previous engagements and appears as though it is going to be a hard proposition again this season. Albion has batsmen who are capable of making runs, and in Allan and Silver has two bowlers who are promising well. Univei’sity has also performed well so far. Carisbrook A, which will meet Kaikorai at Carisbrook, has a good, allround team on paper, though some of the batsmen have not as yet shown very good form. Kaikorai has also shown an improvement in its play, and the addition of Talbot will strengthen the team. Grange will meet Dunedin at Tonga Park. Grange has a good batting side and is showing improved form. Dunedin showed an improvement in its last game and was unfortunate to lose Badcock so early. The Carisbrook B team will njeet Old Boys at Logan Park No. 7 The bowling of Old Boys is good, and Carisbrook B has a young side which is showing distinct promise. For the convenience of cricketers, arrangements have been made for a special tram to leave from the Stock Exchange at 1.10 p.m. for Logan Park.
