Polly Pan Polly Pan's win in the Spring Handicap at Addington was her second success since she was purchased by Mr E. G. Bridgens on October 24, so she quickly gave him a good return. For the major part of last season Polly Pan raced in the joint interest of Dr M. G. Pezaro and Mr Bridgens, and after winning four races she was taken over by E. J. Smith, of Hamilton, in exchange for Tollgate. a pacer who has won three races for the partnership. F. J. Smith recently purchased Pollv Pan for breeding purposes, but, as she was in good racing condition, sold her just before she won the Mountain Handicap at Epsom. Polly Pan. who is by Peterwah. was bred by Mr R. C. Fisken. who also bred Wahnooka. winner of the Middleton Handicap, and second in the Dominion Handicap. Great Northern Derby It was thought desirable by the Auckland Trotting Club, in the interests of the sport and owners, to alter the date for the running of the Great Northern Derby from the clubs Dg-

cember meeting to the meeting to be held in February, and owners were notified accordingly. It -is regretted that certain technical difficulties have arisen which prevent the club from meeting owners in this respect, and it is necessary to revert back to the original conditions of the race. Owners are now advised that the Derby referred to will be run on the second day of the club’s December meeting. The second and final payments will now become due and payable on Friday, December 4, when general nominations for the meeting will be taken, the programmes for which will be published within the next few days.
