NORTH-EAST VALLEY CLUB The annual meeting of the NorthEast Valley Lawn Tennis Club was held on Tuesday evening, when a good muster of members was present. Presenting the annual report and balance sheet the president (Mr E. S. Swete) referred to the sound financial position of the club. He congratulated the B2 team on winning the shield and said that their performance was a particularly good one. Mr Swete mentioned that six teams were entered in the association's competition, and all were well placed. The top-dressing of three of their courts was being proceeded with and would be completed in time for the opening day. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows: —President, Mr J. Leggetl: vice-presidents. Miss G. Stewart and Mr D: S. Munro: committee —Misses P. Crookshanks and A. Campbell, Messrs N. Jolly and A. Millar: honorary secretary. Mr D. V. Gilmour; honorary treasurer, Mr G. Jolly*, club captain. Mr E. Valentine: honorary auditor, Mr M. Kirk; selectors, Messrs E. Valentine and L. Facer: delegates to Otago Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs E. Swete and G. Jolly. Eulogistic references to the services of the retiring president (Mr E. S. Swete) were made by Mr D. S. Munro and Mr L. Facer, who proposed that Mr Swete be made a life member. This was carried unanimously. Mr Swete returned thanks and stated that his services would be still available to the club should they be required. Mr G. Jolly referred to the question of coaching and said that it was desirable for members to have the opportunity of coaching. It was decided to refer the question to the committee for consideration. Seventeen new members were elected and seven resignations were received. The opening date was referred to the incoming committee for decision.
