FASCIST ORGANISATIONS
ACTIVITIES IN NEW ZEALAND DR M'MILLAN ASKS A QUESTION (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 19. Reference to reports that certain New Zealand residents had attended conferences in Europe at the expense of foreign organisations was made by Dr D. G. M'Millan (Govt., Dunedin West) in the House of Representatives to-day. Dr M'Millan gave notice to ask the Prime Minister, Mr M. J. Savage,' whether he had seen a Press Association cable message from London dated August 18 stating, that there were Fascist organisations throughout the world closely linked up with certain foreign consulates and chambers of commerce. Dr. M'Millan also asked whether the Prime Minister was aware of the report that during recent months certain New Zealand residents had been taken for trips from New Zealand to conferences in Europe, and that their expenses had been paid by certain foreign organisations. Would the Prime Minister consider taking the necessary steps, he added, to ensure that those foreign organisations were saved the expense of providing their New Zealand guests' with return passages. In his question Dr M'Millan named a specific European Power, but the actual reference to that country was ruled out by the Speaker, Mr W. E. Barnard. •
