HOCKEY

WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION An executive meeting of the Women’s Hockey Association was held on Monday evening, when there were present Miss Hill (in chair), Mrs Nelson, Mrs Sonntag, Misses Adams, Lee, Wilson and Warburton. The secretary of the Primary Schools Sub-committee advised that they would be holding the annual tournament on the Oval to-day, commencing at 1.30. There were 11 entries, and it was therefore decided to divide them into two grades. The cups are to be presented to the winning teams at the close of Play. The Otago Central Association advised that September 12 would be suitable to them for the match with Otago, but it was decided that arrangements should be made to play the match earlier—August 29 being suggested as a suitable date. The West Harbour Club applied for permission to play the Athletic Club (pamaru) on August 15, but it was decided that as this would interfere with the B Grade competition they would have to play this match at a later date.

The North Otago Association advised that they would be prepared to send a senior and junior team to Dunedin on September 5. —It was suggested that the junior team should play the winner of the B Grade here.
