VISIT OF SOUTH AFRICANS SELECTING NEW ZEALAND TEAMS MAORIS TO BE INCLUDED (Peb United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 18. The impression has been created that members of the Maori race will not be selected to play in provincial or international games against the South African Rugby team which will visit New Zealand next year. Mr S. S. Dean, chairman of the Now Zealand Rugby Union’s Management Committee, states that this is not the position. The best teams, representative of the playing strength of the unions ’and of New Zealand will be selected to play against the visitors and will bo picked from both pakeha and Maori players. There never has been any suggestion that our visitors would not play against the Maoris, and it is to be regretted that such rumours have been given utterance to, said Mr Dean. The question whether the South Africans will play a Maori fifteen or a team from tile combined universities of New Zealand is a policy matter of the New Zealand Union and lias not so far been considered by the committee. It is hoped to draw up at an early date a draft itinerary of the games to .be played in both Australia and Now Zealand. The committee is only waiting for definite confirmation of the sailing dates from and to South Africa.
