COMMUNITY SINGING
Another big day is promised for tomorrow’s community sing, which will be held in the Strand Theatre (by courtesy of Messrs Fuller-Hayward) at 12.15. The Athena Double Quartet will be the special attraction, and its members are sure to be appreciated. This party sang at the “ big sing ” in the Town Hall and received a great ovation. Mr Alf. Pcttitt is in charge of the party, and, under his guidance, a really good performance will la; given. This week the secretary, Air J. F. Himburg, has received a number of letters from far distant listeners-in, congratulating the Dunedin committee on its “ sings.” The funds are for the Mayor’s Relief Fund, and those who appreciate the “ sings ” can send their donations to Begg’s or the Strand Theatre. Air H. P. Desmoulins, the leader, is arranging a good programme of pew and old songs. Air Alf. Pettitt will be at the piano. Airs MTntyre, who is in charge of the stall, will be pleased to receive flowers, as they always And a ready sale. A woman 88 years of age has knitted a beautiful man’s cardigan, which she has handed in for sale, and this is a token of the pleasure she receives from the “ sings.”
