UNEMPLOYMENT TAX
NO IMMEDIATE INCREASE RELIEF FROM PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME (Pkr United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 16. The Minister of Employment (Mr IT. T. Armstrong) stated to-day that the Government does not immediately intend to increase the unemployment tax. He hoped that the Public Works programme would give substantial relief to (he Unemployment Fund. Shortly, but not before the session opened, he hoped to make an announcement regarding an increase in sustenance rates.
