SOUTH DUNEDIN BRANCH The first annual general meeting of the South Dunedin branch of the New Zealand DX Association was held ia th« dubrooms, King Edward street. South Dunedin. Mr H. J. Looker presided over a large meeting of enthusiastic members. The annual report and balance sheet, which was adopted, revealed an excellent general and financial position, as the result of the activities of the first year. Membership showed an increase from 10 to 40 during the year, and the net value of the assets in excess of liabilities at balance date was £l6 13s lOd, with a reserve bank balance on fixed deposit, sufficient to meet the whole of the revenue liabilities for the ensuing year. The branch also fitted and furnished its own dubrooms, and the average attendance of members at fortnightly meetings was uniformly good. The DX chat was varied with musical items and educational lectures on radio. An innovation was introduced during the year, Jay the arrangement of a successful DX camp at Purar kanui. On the broadcast band, the club log for the year reached a total of 626 stations, including African, Asiatic, North and South American, European, and Australian V.K.’s. On the short wave band the club log totalled 240 stations, including 46 commercial, 196 amateur, and 150 “Singletons.” The competition prizewinners were as follows: —Sanderson V.K. Clip, E. J. Gray; Gray Ariel Kit, H. J. Looker; Procter Mascot, E. J. Gray; Calder Mackay Cup. J. E. Sanderson; Calder Mackay Cup (junior), E. J. Gray; Sanderson Short Wave Cup, C. P. Race. The officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron. Mr F. Jones, M.P.: president, Mr E. J. Gray; vicepresidents, Messrs H. J. Isaacs and R. G. Procter; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. E. Sanderson; assistant secretaries, Messrs W. F. Crooke and C. P. Race.
