TRAINED MASSEUSES

MEETING OF OTAGO BRANCH The annual meeting of the Otago bianeh of the New Zealand Trained Masseuses’'Association was held in the Massage Department of the Public Hospital on Friday evening. Dr C. R. Burns accepted the invitation to become patron of the association and in this capacity took the chair. It was decided to ask other members of the medical profession who were interested in physio-therapy to act as vice-patrons. < In his opening remarks Dr Burns commended the association on adopting the suggestion that those members bo included in the constitution of the association. He gave a brief outline of the field of medicine and indicated the importance of the part played by the masseuse in conjunction with the doctor in the treatment of disease. The following officers were appointed from the executive already elected by ballot: —President, Miss A. Allan; vicepresidents. Misses Roberts and Gotts; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss F. Campbell. A vote of thanks was passed to Miss A. Allan, the retiring secretary, for the able way in which she had carried out her duties during her four years in office. It was arranged that Miss Allan should represent the Otago Trained Masseuses Association at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association in Wellington on April 4. It was decided that lectures should he given to the associate members at intervals during the coming year.
