PALMERSTON Scottish Evening The Palmerston Scottish Society held a dance in the Town Hall on Thursday evening. The chief (Mr D. M. Thomson) welcomed all members- and visitors present. Bagpipe selections were given by the band, while excellent music was provided by the Black Cat Orchestra. Extras were played by Pipe-major Chisholm, Piper M'Dougall, Mr J. Matheson, and Mr R. Adams. Mr Innes sang several songs. RANFURLY Arts and Crafts Display One of the most outstanding sections at the recent Maniototo Horticultural and Industrial Exhibition was the arts and crafts bav section. Five entries were staged. Hyde Women's Division gained the first prize. The bay exhibited by this division was outstanding in needlework and variety of handicrafts, and well' deserved the place of honour. WaipiaU Women's Institute came second, Kyeburn Institute third, and Maniototo Division was highly commended. The fifth.entry was hy Naseby Institute. All the bays were a credit to the promoters, and made a remarkable display, the whole of one side of the spacious hall being taken up with this section alone. ■ .;
