PUBLIC LECTURES
OPENING OF W.E.A. SEASON Three short courses of public lectures will be given at the University during the coming four weeks as an introduction to the season of the Workers' Educational Association. The lecturers are Professo.' R. W. Souter, M.A., Ph.D., an Otago man who has attained distinction as an economist at Columbia University, New York; Mr J. A. Brailsford, 8.A., the new tutororganiser of the W.E.A.; and Mr H. Miller. The four Monday evenings wil l be devoted to a"study of "Ourselves and the Japanese," Mr Brailsford taking the course. Having lived in the Far East for seven years, first as editor of an English paper at Hankow, and later on the literary staff of the Japan Chronicle at Kobe, lie can speak from first-hand knowledge. On the Tuesday evenings Mr Miller, whose lecture on art during the short course of last year was highly appreciated, will conduct a course on "Appreciation of Art." Dr Souter will give his lectures on " The American New Deal" on the Wednesday evenings. Further particulars are advertised.
