COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS
ASSISTING THE BLIND The Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Associations in the various centres have combined forces in an effort to raise funds for enlarging the library, the purchase of Braille books and the installing of a talking book library for the Blind Institute. The talking book will not take the place of Braille for the purposes of study. Braille can be read at any time, but it is tiresome, and there are many blind who cannot learn it at all. The formation of such a library will be an inestimable boon to these and all other blind people who can afford to buy the machines. Many authors and publishers have been generous in granting permission for books to be recorded without fee. A good start has already been made by the Otago travellers through the aid of donation cards, and their appeal so far shows a ready response by their many friends in town and country. There is vet much more to be done, and donations will be gladly received and acknowledged by the president or secretary of the Otago Association.
