CATLINS BEAUTY SPOTS
TO the editor
Sir, —I am spending a holiday in the Catlins district, and the remarks by correspondents in the Otago Daily Times do justice to this beautiful district with its many scenic spots and beaches. The only drawback is the deplorable state of the roads to these beauty spots. I visited the well-known blowhole' at Jack’s Bay, but the beauty of the trip was robbed by the rough road which takes one ,to this place. The road is a mass of potholes from beginning to end. It appears'that the authorities in charge do not inspect the road very often or attempt to keep it in order.—l am, etc.. Tourist. Owaka, January 24.
