W.E.A. NOTES
FAREWELL TO MR J. L J. WILSON On the eve of his departure to Australia to take up a new position, ijr Wilson, tutor of the Railway W.E.A. Economics Class, was given a farewell by class members at a social gathering last Saturday evening. Those present were Messrs J. Harrison, W. Gall, A. Ward, P. Wiles, J. Fronde, P. Harrison, T. Freeman, S. Rockliffe, R. Rockliffe, W. Wallace, R. Clarkson, and L. Froude. The function, of an informal nature, took the form of a general discussion on topics relative to the W.E.A., and several items were rendered.
During the proceedings Mr Wilson was the recipient of a small presentation made by one of the senior members on behalf of the class. At the same time he was requested to convey a similar memento to Mrs Wilson, together with the cordial good wishes of the class. The chairman (Mr Harrison) expressed the keen regret felt by all the students in the lose of Mr Wilson. It was with deepest appreciation that members recalled their tutor’s inspiring enthusiasm and his untiring efforts to assist individual students during his connection with the class. Other members, in endorsing Mr Harrison’s remarks, made mention of the warm hospitality of Mr and Mrs Wilson, at whose hearthside students had spent more than one enjoyable evening. Responding, Mr Wilson said that he felt keenly leaving a class which he had come to admire, and his work with it had been one of pure enjoyment. Many of his pleasant recollections of this city would be wrapped up with the Railway W.E.A. Class. The class was keen, and he was confident that it would continue to flourish and grow in numbers.
