THE DUNEDIN CUP MEETING
The stakes to be given by the Dunedin Jockey Club for the Cup meeting on February 13 and 15 total £3740, which is an increase of £485 on last year’s stakes. A comparison of the stakes for the Cup meeting for the past five years is interesting, as it reveals that there has been an increase of £IOBS since 1932. The figures are:— > 1932 £2655 1933 £2680 1934 £3125 1935 £3255 1936 £3740 This year’s increase has been spread over 13 of the 16 races, and the only races that have not been increased are the Cup, £6OO, and the two Hurdle Races of £l5O each. The programme is;—Warrington Hurdles £l5O (£150). Trial Handicap £l2O (£100), Berwick Hack £l5O (£125), Publicans’ Handicap £3OO (£250), Dunedin Cup £6OO (£600), Champagne Stakes £250 (£200), Stewards’ Handicap £175 (£150), President’s Hack £l5O (£130). Owhiro Hurdles £l5O (£150), Novice Handicap £l2O (£100), Flying Handicap £250 (£200). Jockey Club £350 (£300), Hopeful Handicap £175 (£125), Hnzlett Gold Cup £450 (£400), Waihola Handicap £2OO (£150).
