“ THE OBSTACLE WILL GO " MR SEMPLE’S REITERATION (Per United Press Association) NELSON, January 13. The Labour Government’s intention to abolish the New Zealand Railways Board was reiterated by the Minister of Public Works (Mr R. Semple) to-day. He said; “You will realise that the present Cabinet lias no power to say that this or that job will be done, owing to the powers conferred on the Railways Board; but I give you an assurance that the position will be altered. We are directly responsible for the spending o? the ratepayers’ money, and we will dc it, and not share that responsibility with any unrepresentative Ix>dy. We have first to get that obstacle out of the roadL and I can make it plain that the obstacl* will go.”
