TAIERI RIVER TRUST
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Taieri River Trust .was held yesterday at Mosgiel, and was attended by Messrs H. W. Wilson {in the chair), A. Moore, J. Lyall, J. Young and J. Dow. WORKS COMMITTEE. The Works Committee submitted the following report: — The Works Committee met on December 4 to inspect the proposed new drain to Berwick, and recommends that this drain be proceeded with as soon as possible after the holidays. We inspected portions of the main channel and are of the opinion that provision should lie made in next year’s estimates to have the main cut and a portion of Lee Creek channel cleaned out by the excavator. Owing to the amount of gorse growing on the sides of the Swamp road drain, the committee stopped the top gang from carrying on and instructed the clerk to serve notice on the adjoining owners to clear the gorse. We instructed the top gang to clean out the upper contour and then shift into the main cut. The committee instructed Mr Dow to draw up a proposal to give better drainage to the block opposite G. Wylie’s. The report was adopted. WORK OF THE MONTH. The inspector (Mr W.
