VITAL STATISTICS
FIGURES FOR DUNEDIN LARGE INCREASE IN BIRTHS. The vital statistics in Dunedin for the month of November show that, compared with the corresponding period last year, births and marriages increased considerably, and there was a substantial decrease in the number of deaths. Births for November, 1934, totalled 98, but last month the figure was 124, an increase of 26. Deaths numbered 80, compared with 86 a year ago, and marriages increased from 57 in November, 1934, to 72 last month. The following are the figures for the month, together with those for the corresponding month of last year:—
During the 11 months of the current year births totalled 1197, compared with 1183 during the similar period of last year. Deaths numbered 824, compared with 928, and marriages showed an increase of one, this year’s total being 747.
