AMATEUR ATHLETICS

SECOND EVENING SPORTS Excellent weather conditions prevailed last night for the second evening sports meeting to be conducted by the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, and a successful and interesting fixture was held. The tracks at the Caledonian Ground were in greatly improved condition -and the excellent fields and keen competition throughout presented much enjoyment for spectators and athletes alike. As on the previous occasion the meeting was ably controlled and the close finishes bore testimony to the excellent work of the handicanpers. The cycle races held in conjunction with the running and field events by the Dunedin Amateur Cycling Club also proved interesting, and close and exciting finishes were the order of the evening.
