OTAGO HISTORICAL SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Otago branch, of the New Zealand Historical Society was held in the Museum Library last evening, the president (Dr J. R. Elder) being in the chair. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Dr J. R. Elder; vice-presidents—Mr W. Downie Stewart, Dr E. N. Merrington, and Mr J. T. Paul; council—Dr Mullin, Messrs 0. J. Begg, A. Eccles, F. W. Knight, Angus Ross, and A. G. Dunningham; hon. secretary, Dr Basil Howard. ■ It was decided that the title of the section, which has hitherto been the Otago branch of the New Zealand Historical Society, should be changed to the Otago Historical Society section of the Otago branch of the Royal Society. The remainder of the meeting was devoted to the discussion of the syllabus for the coming year.
