CHINESE TREASURES
EXHIBITION IN LONDON (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, November 23. (Received Nov. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) A warm tribute to the Chinese Government for its generous co-operation with the Executive Committee of the International Exhibition of Chinese Art, which will be opened on Thursday, was paid yesterday by fie president of the Royal Academy. In referring to the general scope and character of the exhibition he said that for most people Chinese art meant Ming porcelain, but this exhibition would show them Micro ■were other periods and other kinds of art in which China had reached the height of perfection. Dr Chrag. commissioner for the Chinese Government in connection with the exhibition, said everything in it came to England with the goodwill of China behind it. Being 4000 years old, the Chinese were a very human race and it was the humanity c. their arts that he wished to emphasise. Referring to the spirit with which Chinese art was produced he said it was not made with the bayonet but was founded upon peace, virtue, and affection.
