The Co-opeiative Fruitgrowers of Otago have received a Circular recommending Fruit Retailers to deal only with those Fruit Brokers who are not charging for cases. We beg to advise all our Clients, both Consignors and Buyers, that in justice to our Members, who are all Fruitgrowers, many of them being returned soldiers, wo charge for cases on a basis of 6d for bushel cases, 4d for half-bushel, and 2d for less than half-bushel, with the exception of six-pound cases or less, which are not charged for. These charges are paid to the Grower, and we buy the case back from the buyer and pay 4Jd for the bushel case and 3d for the half-bushel, which, in effect, means that the buyer only pays IJd for bushel and Id for the half-bushel case. To both Consignors and Buyers we give a fair deal, and will do our best to retain their confidence, and, while we appreciate any practical suggestions, we must be allowed the freedom to manage the business in the interests of those who consign their fruit to our Rooms for sale. The increase of our sales has warranted the opening of branches in North and South Dunedin, and clients can rely upon their requirements being supplied. THE CO-OPERATIVE FRUITGROWERS OF OTAGO, LTD. J. H. WAIGHTH, Manager.

“ In the whole of my experience since I commenced work as a motor mechanic ill London in 1907,” said the Wellington chief traffic inspector (Mr L. S. Drake), in commenting upon some recent accidents, “ I have only known two genuine instances of accident caused through faulty steering gear. At the bottom of most of the accidents to-day is excessive speed. People used to driving an old vehicle doing from 20 to 30 miles an hour get into one of the new cars with greatly increased power, and almost before they knew where they arc they are doing 50 miles an hour, but it seems no more than 25 because of the superior riding qualities and smooth engine action of the new car.”

It Talks: The shop front display tells the story eloquently, but it is a fixture which attracts only the passers-by. The Otago Daily Times carries the tidings everywhere. It is your best selling agent. Advertising pays.
