MORAY PLACE CONGREGATIONALISTS
SEVENTY-THIRD ANNIVERSARY Marking the seventy-third anniversary of the founding of the Moray Place Congregational Church, special services were held yesterday. The morning devotions, which included a baptismal service, were conducted by the Rev. Albert Mead, and in the evening the Rev. C. G. H. Bycroft preached the sermon, and the choir rendered special music. At the close of the service an augmented choir presented the cantata “Hymn of Praise” (Mendelssohn). The soloists for the occasion were Mr and Mrs J. E. Davies. Mrs Davies wag first heard in the soprano solo “ Praise Thou the Lord,” then followed the beautiful duct “ I Waited for the Lord,” sung with Miss Agnes Guy. Mr Davies's tenor solos were “Sing Ye Praise” and “The Sorrows of Death.” In association with Mrs Davies he sang the duet “ My Song Shall Always Be Thy Mercy.” The opening “ Sing to the Lord,” followed by “ The Night is Departing,” and the climax to the work “-Ye Nations" were the most notable choruses. The choir was under the direction of Mr Alfred Walmsley, the organ accompaniments being played by Mrs H. C. Campbell.
