PACIFIC SHIPPING
THE COMPETITION PROBLEM AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND INTERESTS (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 30. Wflen the attention of Mr N. S. Falla, managing director of the Union Company, was drawn to the statement by Mr Lyons regarding the Pacific shipping problem, Mr Falla said that after consultation with the New Zealand Government he hopes to go to Australia in the near future to discuss Pacific shipping generally with the Federal Government. He characterised the message from Melbourne as " helpful." A cablegram from London which appeared in the Sydney papers last week gave information that the British Government has withdrawn its objection to the voyage between Australia and New Zealand being declared a coasting one and open only to ships of nations which reciprocate by granting British ships equality of treatment on their coast.
