THE WOOL INDUSTRY
CAUSE FOR OPTIMISM LONDON, October 29. Dalgety's Wool Trade Review, referring to the outlook, says: " Many have visions of another boom, but the trade hopes to avoid booms, which are invariably followed by periods of reaction, losses, and dislocation of trale. Seasonal influences point to reduced production, and trade indications are towards increased mill activity. Tl.is does not necessarily indicate a boom period now that artificial fibre production is so highly developed. The masses are not in a position to pay high prices for clothing, and while preferring pure wool products, will assuredly be content with substitutes when necessary to cheapen costs. The main cause for optimism is the indication that prices will be on more remunerative bases, and that the depression levels are not so likely to prevail."
