BRAVERY RECOGNISED
ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY (Feb United Press Association) HAMILTON, October 30. Recognition of the brave effort by the late Constable C. Williams and Mr C. A. Clarke was made at Hamilton today when the silver medal of the Royal Humane Society was presented to Mr Clarke by the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr J. R. Fow, and a silver medal and memorial certificate were handed to the next of kin of Constable Williams, who loßt his life in an endeavour, with Mr Clarke, to save from drowning a woman in the Waikato River on August 13. Addressing the large audience and the police detachment, Police Inspector C. W. Lopdell said that life was measured by deeds, not days. Constable Williams had truly done his life's work.
