One Rramnie*'of radium costs £IO,OOO, but it seems possible that the price will drop in the near future. Tkere : coiner word from Russia that rich deposits of radium have b.een found in the Azerbaidzhan area of Transcaucasia. Soviet scientists are wasting no time in. working out a project for exploiting the radium on a huge industrial scale. Radium is perpetually " throwing off" its own electrons at a tremendous speed, and it is-by means of directing these electrons on to the cancer-infected tissues that a disease may be overcome, as it were, by bomb-'.H-ment. Burgundy, wine red, aubergine and berry blue- are among the new shades for women's wear in England this autumn.
