GERMANY REARMING
AN OFFICIAL DECLARATION THREE SHIFTS IN FACTORIES (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BERLIN, October 28. (Received Oct. 29, at 1 a.m.) Describing Germany's rearmament in a speech at Breslau, General Goering declared that factories were working continuously, three shifts a day, "and will not cease until Germany is safe from attack. Herr Hitler has saved us from being a second Abyssinia." VALUABLE OIL SUPPLY LONDON, October 28. (Received Oct. 29, at C. 45 a.m.) The Financial News comments: "Germany is not only spending £800,000,000 annually on rearmament, but she is obtaining control of important raw materials outside her frontiers, notably the reopening with German finance of Hungarian manganese ore mines, which are the richest in Europe outside Russia. Secondly, she has formed a GermanHungarian Bauxite Company. Thirdly, she lias extended credit enabling a Ger-man-owned Esthonian shale oil company nearly to treble production. Hungarian imports are unlikely to be cut off even in war, while the Baltic oil supply is most valuable to the navy."
