DEFENCE RIFLE SHOOTING

i DUNEDIN CLUB. The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club shot the first competition for a trophy presented by Mr A. J. Shaw on Saturday afternoon. Unfavourable weather conditions affected the attendance. Ten shots (two optional sighters) each were fired at 300 and 500 yards. Changeable light and a variable breeze from the rear required care. Rifleman M. W. Denton was top at 300 yards with 47, and Rifleman A. J. Robson was highest at 500 yards with 49. He also headed the day's aggregate with a fine 95. The following were the scores:—
