MR HISLOP’S MEETING
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your paper this morning there appeared a letter signed by some person over the nom de plume of “ Ashamed. Well, Sir, 1 must say the writer of it chose a good name to go under, as he is telling deliberate falsehoods about Or W. W. Batchelor, accusing him of being the ringleader of the disturbance created at Mr Hislops meeting on Thursday night last. 1 happened to be sitting in front of (Jr Batchelor, and 1 did not hear him cause any disturbance at all. I'm not trying to support (Jr Batchelor or anyone else, but I do believe in fair play. -And, Sir. 1 should say to “Ashamed ’ that it he is any sort of a man he would apologise to Cr Batchelor. —1 am, etc., Dunedin, October 20. SENTINEL.
